VALLEY CAMINO
Follow a Million Other Pilgrims

RESOURCES
The Valley Camino Chapter, a group within the Canadian Company of Pilgrims, (CCOP) (https://www.santiago.ca/ ) represents a rich and varied human resource starting with the experiences of the Coordinators and other Chapter friends who are experienced pilgrims.
For those considering a personal camino, there are countless written and visual resources available to you. Rather than attempt anything like a complete listing for all walkers, we would rather direct you to

Perhaps the most common resource for pilgrims is the series of guidebooks by John Brierly. All titled A Pilgrims Guide to … these books focus on specific routes and provide essentials for your journey. The books are regularly updated to include newer maps and photos. They contain all the information needed by modern-day pilgrims wishing to walk the sacred Way of St. James. Overview route planners plus daily stage maps and detailed town plans help sojourners with all the advance preparation they need. The maps feature contour guides to help distinguish the terrain that will be crossed each day, while full information on all pilgrim hostels, as well as details for alternative accommodation, allow travelers to plot adequate nightly stopping points. All reference information is accompanied by helpful spiritual guidelines to support the seeker's inner journey as well as the outer pilgrimage. We should add that not everyone likes Brierly’s approach of set distance days, however there is no doubt the books are very valuable to pilgrims.

One other unique resource for this pilgrim chapter is the book Walk Like A Mountain: The Handbook of Buddhist Walking Meditation written by coordinator Ray Parchelo. This is an extensive examination of the overlap between spiritual and meditative practices and the human activity of walking. The book can be purchased from Sumeru Books , https://sumeru-books.com/products/walk-like-a-mountain-the-handbook-of-buddhist-walking-practice or directly from Ray.

OUR CHAPTER RESOURCES
We have a selection of unique books on the topic of pilgrimage and walking/hiking which chapter members (of this Chapter or another CCOP Chapter) may borrow. You can borrow them for 1 month and can either pick them up/ drop the off with Ray or arrangefor shipping. These are all important studies of the topic of pilgrimage and walking, ones I collected for my booksresearch. Generally, these are not available in Libraries. NOTE: We do not have Brierly’s books or similar Camino guides to loan out. There are hundreds of guidebooks and personal reflections on the Camino de Santiago. These are best borrowed fromyour local library or purchased as books, e-books or apps for your own personal use.
